Three Kitchens, Three Stories: BTI in Architectural Digest

October 13, 2026
There’s something special about seeing your work in print.
This past September, Brittanya Tammearu Interiors is proud to be as seen in Architectural Digest, with our work appearing in the publication’s Excellence in Design: South Carolina.
But for us, the most meaningful part isn’t simply seeing the BTI name alongside Architectural Digest.
It’s the three kitchens pictured there.
Because they don’t look alike.
And that’s exactly the point.
A Home Shouldn’t Look Like a Designer. It Should Look Like You.
Spend enough time scrolling through interiors online and it’s easy to start seeing the same rooms over and over again.
The same finishes. The same colors. The same silhouettes. The same trends are interpreted slightly differently from one home to the next.
At BTI, we approach design differently.
We don’t begin a project by asking how we can make a home look more like us. We begin by learning about the people who will actually live there.
How do you move through your home?
Where does everyone gather?
What do you reach for every morning?
What pieces already mean something to you?
What do you want your home to feel like when you walk through the door?
Those answers—not an algorithm or a passing design trend—begin to shape the room.

Three Kitchens. Three Completely Different Stories.
The three BTI kitchens appearing in Architectural Digest’s Excellence in Design: South Carolina illustrate that philosophy beautifully.
Each was created for a different home and a different client.
Their architecture is different. Their materials are different. Their personalities are different.
And they should be.
One client may be drawn to rich wood tones and architectural details. Another may want something light, layered and quietly sophisticated. Another home may call for contrast, character or an unexpected material combination.
Our job isn’t to make those homes look alike.
Our job is to uncover what makes each one feel right for the people living there—and then translate that into thoughtful, beautiful design.
Personal Over Predictable
That philosophy is particularly meaningful to us because the Architectural Digest placement is titled “Getting Personal.”
Personal is exactly what we believe great residential design should be.
A beautiful home can photograph well.
A personal home does something more.
It tells you something about the people who live there.
It accommodates their routines. It holds their memories. It makes room for the way they entertain, cook, gather, work, celebrate and live on an ordinary Tuesday.
Those details may not always be the first thing someone notices in a photograph.
But they’re often the reason a home feels right.
Design That Lasts Longer Than a Trend
Trends can be inspiring. They can introduce new materials, colors and ideas worth considering.
But they shouldn’t dictate an entire home.
When we design around the client rather than the trend cycle, the result has the opportunity to feel relevant for much longer—not because it avoids personality, but because it has more of it.
That is the kind of work we want BTI to be known for.
Not one signature kitchen.
Not one recognizable formula.
But homes that are thoughtful, individual and deeply connected to the people who entrusted us with them.
Seeing three distinctly different BTI kitchens together in Architectural Digest’s Excellence in Design: South Carolina feels like a particularly fitting way to celebrate that.
Three kitchens. Three stories. One philosophy: your home should feel like you.
